Every year at the end of April there is a National Drive It Day, where classic car owners across the country are encouraged to drive their vehicles for a day to celebrate the UK's transport heritage at its finest.
This marks our third anniversary at Lodge Hill Garage for providing a venue for local classic car owners to meet and compare notes with fellow owners and enthusiasts, and this yearís gathering exceeded all expectations with over sixty cars arriving on the day. Below is a selection of photos showing the fantastic diversity of vehicles we saw (sorry there isnít room to fit them all in!) and our thanks go to all those who attended for supporting us and making the day such a huge success.
Once again catering was provided by Rupert Whitaker of The Field Kitchen Oxford and donations raised from this together with money raised from our raffle (thanks to Roger Burns for all his efforts) boosted our fund for a permanent memorial to the women of the Air Transport Auxiliary by over £600. Since the spitfire replica was placed on the garage roof in 2011, we have raised over £3000 for a permanent memorial to commemorate the lives of the brave female ATA pilots of World War 2.
